Your Autumn 2026 Reading Guide

There is something about autumn that makes a book feel different in your hands. Maybe it's that pumpkin-spice latte (which by the way, I have never tried), the smell of all those new notebooks at your local store waiting to be used, or the pleasure of reading about a small town romance during the best months of the year. Here in Arizona, autumn exists, but not really. Unfortunately, we don't have a true "autumn/fall" season here in Phoenix, and it makes me long for Roanoke, VA, where I briefly lived there 20+ years ago. The changing colors of the landscape, the fall festivals, and the coziness in the air just had a freshness about it. And there is no better companion for those long, cozy afternoons than a stack of books you have been meaning to get to.

Since autumn is one of my favorite seasons, I wanted to create a list of fall-vibey books! And just a heads up, I tend to lean towards some Scottish vibe books because they pair well with autumn themes. This list will include newer and older books, as well as ones coming out this fall. I am not always drawn to the newer books as I feel earlier published books still deserve love. The Goodreads ratings will be 3.5 and above but even though some may be on the lower end, they still can be nice, escapist reads (another blog coming soon on Goodreads ratings..) They also don't have to be a 100% autumn themed book, as in the cover or title screams autumn. They could be cozy reads that make you want to sit in silence next to a fireplace or with a cozy, fuzzy blanket!
